The 700 on Washington, a 98-unit, purpose-built student housing community located just minutes from The University of Minnesota has been honored with a 2016 Innovator Award for Best Student Housing Design by Student Housing Business magazine. Developed by University Student Living, LLC, and designed by The Cunningham Group, The 700 on Washington was recognized for excellence in the under 300 unit category.
“The Cunningham Group provided a creative, affordable design solution that beautifully resolved the challenges presented by limited space in an urban environment” said USL’s Vice President of Development Kristina Vagen. “Their design also incorporated all the features and amenities we see as mandatory for providing an attractive lifestyle for a diverse student profile.”
The 700 on Washington is the first of three distinctive, purpose-built student housing communities that University Student Living has developed near the University of Minnesota. Built on 3.2 acres, the six-story apartment community can accommodate 266 students. The community offers spacious studios, as well as one- and two-bedroom apartments. Among its unique amenities is the Sky Lounge, a top-floor clubhouse with views of the University of Minnesota’s Alumni Center. Student residents can also enjoy an internet cafe, a fully-equipped fitness center and a business center. The development also includes parking for 49 cars and 11,600 square feet of retail space on the ground floor.
The 2016 Innovator Awards were presented April 14 in Austin, Texas, as part of the InterFace Student Housing Conference sponsored by Student Housing Business magazine. More than 85 industry experts voted on more than 100 entries to choose the top winners in 23 categories.
