USL is proud to offer scholarships to residents of our properties for the second year! In 2016, we were able to award a total of $18,500 to 9 well deserving residents. We want to thank our 2016 sponsors and we are looking forward to expanding and growing this scholarship program.

Overview: 

Matriculating students in good standing academically at a community college, college, university or trade/technical school and residing at an apartment community in which University Student Living (USL) has an ownership interest are eligible to apply. In addition to their transcripts and financial information to determine need, the application process requires applicants to submit a 400 word essay or a video that reflects their most positive qualities, aspirations, their chosen field of study and extra-curricular activities.

The USL Scholarship Program is a division of The Michaels Organization Educational Foundation. Over the last 26 years, the Foundation has awarded more than 5.2 million dollars in scholarships to residents living at affordable housing apartment communities and in military housing.

The grants for our inaugural year totaled $18,500 and ranged from $2,000 to $2,500. Congratulations to our 9 awardees and thank you to our sponsors who also share our mission.

Better Tomorrows

Serving over 40,000 children, adults, and seniors facing adversity across the country.

Better Tomorrows is a non-profit organization that gives individuals, families, and neighborhoods the services and support they need to realize their potential and overcome the effects of generational poverty.

Before becoming a non-profit organization in 2013, Better Tomorrows was incubated as the award-winning resident services department of The Michaels Organization’s affordable housing management company. Today, Better Tomorrows currently provides supportive services to residents at nearly 100 properties throughout the Michaels portfolio, with programs that foster economic stability, educational success, healthy lifestyles, and strong communities.

University Student living, as a company of The Michaels’s Organization, continues to actively support Better Tomorrows’ mission as a strategic partner and through sponsorships.
